Find the correct keywords for your WebSite.

Friday, April 25th, 2008

The most common tool used when people  are looking for information is the search engine. People using SE usually do not view results beyond the first couple of pages.

Now to get your website found by the SE, you need to adopt a well planned strategy, however one thing to keep in mind is that you should not rely solely on SE as your primary source of traffic

If you want to have  a successful blog or website then Keyword research is critical  — that is assuming you are in it to make a profit.  You want  people to find your website and  you want your  web visitors to be interested in what you have to sell.

Read on to discover “How to find the correct Keywords for your website”

Check on your Competition

Start by Lettting the search engines gather the correct keywords for your site for you, you can spot what your competition is doing in order to gain the top rankings in your market, pay attention to the keyword placement on their sites.

Another way to find the correct keywords for your website can be found with tools like seodigger.com and spyfu.com . Seodigger allows you to identify the phrases that competitors are ranking for organically and SpyFu displays what phrases are being used with Pay Per Click advertising.

How to Find the correct keywords for your website can be daunting, The trick is to start slowly.

The first step in this process is to create a list of potential keywords. Brainstorm all the words you think a customer would type into their search box when trying to find you, what is your site hoping to do or promote? Come up with enough words to cover all the services your site offers. Avoid overly generic terms. These words are incredibly difficult to rank for and won’t drive qualified traffic to your site. Focus on words that are relevant, but not overly used.

A great way to find the correct keywords for your website is to use social media sites, the use of tags as keywords can reveal the concepts consumers most associate with the kind of content being promoted..
The most popular tags, or keywords, are often reported on the respective social media sites such as on the del.icio.us tag page, StumbleUpon popular tags or the Technorati blog search engine tag page.

Now that you have found the correct keywords for your website, your next step is to determine the activity for each of your proposed keywords. You want to narrow your list to only include highly attainable, sought-after phrases that will bring the most qualified traffic to your site.

There are lots of great tools out there to help you determine how much activity your keywords are receiving. Here’s a few of the more popular choices:

Overture Keyword Selector Tool: Overture’s Keyword Selector tools shows you how many searches have been conducted over the last month for a particular phrase and lists alternative search terms you may have forgotten about.

Wordtracker: Wordtracker is a paid-use tool that lets you look up popular keyword phrases to determine their activity and popularity among competitors. Their top 1000 report lists the most frequently searched for terms.

Google AdWords Keyword Tool: Google’s keyword PPC tool doesn’t provide actual search numbers for keywords. Instead, it displays a colored bar, giving users only an approximation.

Google Suggest: Google Suggest is a great way to find synonyms and related word suggestions that may help you expand your original list.

Narrow down your Keyword list.

Now that you have found the correct keywords for your website, have tested their activity, it’s time to narrow down the field and decide which keywords will make it into your  final keyword list.

Go down your list  and highlight the terms that most closely target the subject and theme of your web site. These are the terms you want to hold on to. Delete  all words that are not relevant to your site or that you don’t have sufficient content to support (unless you’re willing to write some).

Targeted terms are often easier to rank for and help bring qualified traffic. They also make you a subject matter expert to the search engines, since the targeted terms strengthen the theme created with the broader phrases.

Conclusion.

Now you know how to find the correct keywords for your website, put them to good use, if you are not on the first page in  all the major SE, web visitors will hardly ever bother looking for your website. If you want to learn more about this subject then get this FREE BOOK, Keyword-Research-Guide.

Improve your WebPages to increase website ranking

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Do you want to increase your website ranking, have a look at your WebPages. By doing basic SEO work you will be able to improve the way the major SE see your WebPages.

SEO Basics
The basics of optimising your site for search engines (SEO) is relatively straightforward as search engines use only three criteria to rank you website/ web page:

  • Your page/ site content -
  •  The links to and from your site
  •  Your Competitors

You have no control over your competitors sites, so you have only two ways of increase your website rankings, and they are:

  1.  Your Content
  2.  Website Links

How to Improve the WebPage content.
Keyword Phrases
If you were searching for your own website, what keyword phrase would you type into Google for each page? Would you look for “home based business” Would you look for “home based internet business ideas” It may be helpful to get a different perspective. Ask someone else to read your page and suggest what they think your keyword phrase might be.

Stick to one subject per page, if you have multiple pages , try to stick to one keyword phrase per page.

 Keyword Density
How often the keyword occurs is called keyword density. Always use natural phrasing, do not try to trick the search engine by repeating the same word over and over or making text “invisible.” It doesn’t work. In fact, it may even get your website banned from Google.

Google may or may not search beyond the first 200 words or so of your web site, so give a strong opening paragraph.

It is generally regarded that 5 to 10 keywords per 100 words is acceptable. If you repeat your keywords  too often then the search engines might think you are spamming . So start low and you can always tweak it upwards later.

Heading Tags
Text within the heading tags H1-H6 are given extra weighing by search engines. Therefore it is important to use this tags and not simply use a larger font size. The headline tags function just like headlines in newspapers and they draw the reader and the search engines.
The Opening Headline.
The opening headline should sum up the contents of the web page. It should be designed to attract both the reader and the search engines and consist of your keywords/keyword phrases. It is often the same as your web page title or very similar to it.

The H2 tag is commonly used because most people find the H1 tag too large.

Other headline Tags H3-H6
These tags are used for emphasis and again should contain your keywords or some variation of it. These are ideally used for secondary keywords. Again the body text following the headline should contain your keyword at least once.

The general structure is:

  • headline H1or H2– contains keyword/keyword phrase
Body text —-contains keyword/keyword phrase at least max twice
  • headline H3-H6 — contains keyword/keyword phrase
Body text —-contains keyword/keyword phrase at least max twice
  • headline H3-H6 — contains keyword/keyword phrase
Body text —-contains keyword/keyword phrase at least max twice

Give Your Pages a name.

It is vital to give your pages a descriptive name with the <title> tag, Google displays search results as a link using the web page’s title.  When appropriate, use the page’s keyword phrase in the title.

Make Your Graphics Search Friendly
Keep the Flash to a minimum, search engines tend to skip right over it. If your menus are in Flash, they might as well be invisible.

Give your images <alt> tags, not only does it make your website more accessible to the visually impaired, it also gives you another chance to place your keywords where Google can see them.

Finally
In the end, strong well organised pages are pages that Google tends to rank higher. They’re also pages that tend to become more popular, which means Google will rank them even higher. Keep good design in mind as you go, and much of the SEO will design itself. So by improving your webpage content, you will increase your website rank

Use Links to increase Website Ranking

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Discover how to use linking to improve your home business website ranking, these tips may not make your website appear in the 10 ten list, but they will help you move up  in the ranking list.

Why Build Links ?

The purpose of building links is to provide value for you visitor and when a webmaster from another site links to you, that link should also provide value to his visitor. So don’t look just to exchange links- Look to exchange value.

If done correctly, Links are also a very important source of traffic for your home business website.
You may even find that some links bring more traffic than the search engines. In addition, the traffic provided by links is generally consistent and not subject to the vagaries of your search engine ranking.
Types of Links

One-Way Inbound Links

The best type of links to get are simple inbound links. These are obtained by other website owners linking to you because you are considered an authority in a particular filed or the article/web page is particularly relevant. These type of links will come if you produce high quality content web pages on your home business website.

The other way of getting simple inbound links is from directories. Most, but not all, directories will list your website without requiring you to link to them.

Reciprocal Links

The next stage is to build inbound links by using a link exchange mechanism. You link to a website and in return they will link back to you. This type of link is a reciprocal link.
The important thing to remember when exchanging links to other sites is to only exchange links to websites that are relevant to your own  home business website theme.
Link Exchange Process

The first step is to find Websites to Exchange links with. There are two ways of doing this the manual method or by using software tools that will search out related websites for you.

Manual Link Exchange Method
In order to find  home business websites that are willing to exchange links  do a search on your keywords and then take a look at the competitors websites resource/links page. This page contains links to other websites from the competitors site .
Forms of Link Cheating

Link Farms - Stay Clear.
A link farm is basically a website of links and nothing else. Be very wary of any promotion or offer that promises to put your link and x thousand websites. Don’t exchange links with any site you suspect as being part of a link farm.

Ignore spam and websites that offer to submit your website to hundreds of search engines. At best these are wastes of time or money and at worst they can actually hurt your ranking.

Finally

It’s very easy to exchange links with the sole target being to have as many as possible so that you achieve a high PR only to find that it doesn’t affect your rankings and it takes a massive amount of time.

If you would like to exchange links with a good content site, then go to Home Based Business Opportunities and look for the Link to US form, add your details to (add your site here)

You should aim to get around 10 good links relatively early from directories and themed hubs and then build links gradually as needed or as and when you find a good site to link with.

3 ways to make money From your Blog

make money online

Now that you have a blog, why don’t you  learn how to make money from your blog, it is not as hard as it sounds. Listed below are 3 of the best ways to start making money from your blog.

1. Sell advertising.
This is likely the most common means of making money from your blog. If your Blog happens to become a well-known blog, or one that is well-received in a particular niche, it’s always possible to sell ad space on your own. For lesser-known blogs, services such as Google’s AdSense or BlogAds enable bloggers to establish ad programs.

Advertising can be broken into two section CPC ( Cost per Click ) and CPA (Cost per Action)

The top 3  CPC Networks are,

AdSense.
Google AdSense is probably the best known and most widely used way of making money from your blog. It is very simple to setup, offers ads relevant to your content from a large number of trusted advertisers, pays about 60% of the click to you and pays out reliably.

YPN.
People who have used YPN have said that they earn more per click when compared to AdSense revenue generated from the same site. Payment is also reliable, offering the choice of payment via check or direct deposit. However, if you run a very topic-specific blog, YPN would not be my first choice CPC program to make money from your blog.

Chitika.
Chitika will contextually pick a product and display a price, image and short description. Payout is reliable and can be sent straight to your PayPal account, something which is sure to attract many. Chitika is most suited to commercial blogs. If you blog on a topic such as iPods, PSP, gaming, electrical accessories you will more than likely find Chitika generates a good revenue stream.

The top 2 CPA Networks are,

AdBrite
If you have a high traffic blog  then I would highly recommend signing up for AdBrite. This is a marketplace where advertisers can browse for sites and pay for their textual advertisement to appear. It isn’t contextual and can be used alongside AdSense and YPN. The cost for a link on your blog is worked out by your traffic and sector. So the more traffic you have, the more money you make from your blog.

Show Me How To Launch 6 *Automated* Affiliate Income Streams In Just 24 Hours!

Text-Link-Ads
You can apply to have your blog included in their marketplace so that advertisers can pay for their static text link on your site. Most of the buyers using this network are doing so because they want the benefit of the link from your site, but luckily you can choose who gets to appear. Implementing Text-Link-Ads on your site is quick and easy.

2.  Sell Affiliate  Products.
Affiliate programs enable your blog to serve as a conduit between readers and online sites offering various goods and services. One popular choice is Amazon.com. If, for instance, you offer book reviews or even just mention a book in passing in your blog, an affiliate program provides a means for your readers to click directly from your blog to Amazon to obtain further information about the book. If they break out the checkbook or charge card, you get paid as well, what a excellent way to make money from your blog.

 Azoogle Ads.
AzoogleAds is a Cost Per Acquisition network, which certain people have major success with. Let’s say you have a blog about mobile phones, then you could offer a free ringtone download that would then pay out a few bucks once the customer downloads the ringtones. AzoogleAds have an excellent reputation in terms of their customer care and revenue share, you’ll find that they pay out more than any other affiliate network. On the downside, AzoogleAds do not have the widest range of offers, but if you are in the auto / finance / tech sector you’ll be well catered for.

 Commission Junction.
Have been around for ages and have an absolutely gigantic number of affiliate programs to sign up to. If you have a blog that reviews products, chances are you will be able to find a suitable affiliate program in the CJ network and make money from your affiliate referrals. Your cut of each sale is not constant though, so make sure and check what % you get from each advertiser you sign up with.

3. Solicit contributions.
Are you aware that you can make money from your blog by asking for contributions. If, for instance, your small-business blog supports a cause or issue in some fashion — say you repeatedly mention tax reform, health care or some other topic — you can always ask for reader support.Even if you’ve attracted a group of regular followers who simply enjoy reading what you have to say, they may be willing to underwrite their loyalty with a little financial help. Programs such as PayPal make it easy to establish a simple on-site contribution
collection button. Not the best way of generating revenue, but you can give it a try. PayPal is the best option of receiving funds. Or you could set up an Amazon gift list.

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

HubPages

HubPages.com is a FREE  internet community where users can publish content, gain information about a specific topic or both.

Hubs are essentially articles on virtually anything. Users can write articles about anything they are knowledgeable about, have an interest in or perhaps even want to promote, such as Internet businesses, websites or links to other content sites.

Hubs are broken down into smaller sections called capsules. Capsules can be filled with text, a photo, links, RSS feeds or even money-making options, which will be discussed below.
Visitors to the site can search for hubs on a specific topic, of they can visit the main page to see what is hot, what is new and what is the best rated. From the “Topics” tab, users can browse through popular categories and subcategories.

Creating your First Hub in 4 simple steps
1. Create: You’ll need to create an account.
2. Name: Pick a title for your Hub, url sub category title and add tags that describe your Hub.
3. Add: Create the content capsules of your choice and fill them with whatever you’d like.
4. Publish.

Advantage of using Hubpages to Promote Your Internet Home Business

  •  You can place direct links to your blog or webpages to drive traffic
  • Increase your chances of improving your Pagerank indirect.
  • Promote on your products, affiliate products or even your website.
  • Potential to improve your website’s search engine ranking positions.
  • Use social media marketing  which could generally improve traffic.
  • Track your daily visitors and where they are from, then you can apply for Google Analytics, have your unique ID to be activated.

You can earn Money on HubPages?
For those with Google AdSense accounts or who are members of Amazon.com’s and Ebay’s affiliate programs, capsules are available to offer ads and items geared to the hub topic. If ads are clicked on or items are purchased, hubbers can earn a percentage. Additionally, HubPages has an affiliate program. So, if Hubbers sign up a new member, they can also earn off those clicks.

How to enable your Affiliate and Google Adsense ID?

You will need to enable your Google Adsense and Affiliate ID before you can have them monetizing on your Hub. If you do not have an account with Google Adsense, signup for an account, if you intend to use ebay affiliate ID then it requires you to have a Commission Junction account and same goes for affiliates with Amazon, it will be a requirement to have a Associate Program ID.

Signing up for all 3 are simple and will take a few days before the application is approve.

Conclusion

Start promoting your internet home based business website today with Hubpages, it is fast, it is easy and the best part it is FREE. You can even start earning a good residual income from your HubPage

There are thousands of people around the world who  have blogs, yet very view people actually earn money from their blogs. In fact if you do it correctly you can make a good residual income from your blog, as soon as you get decent traffic arriving daily at your blog.

Below are a few ways that you can start making money from your blog.

Sell advertising space
When you mention advertsing, most people think of Adsense, this is likely the most common means of l to generate income for a blog. If yours happens to become a well-known blog, or one that is well-received in a particular niche.

Adevrtising can be broken into CPC (cost per Click ) and CPA (Cost per Action)

CPC Ad Networks
1. AdSense
Google AdSense is probably the best known and most widely used way of  making money from your blog. It is very simple to setup, offers ads relevant to your content from a large number of trusted advertisers, pays about 60% of the click to you and pays out reliably. The downside these days is that  there is the possibility that your readers have become AdSense-blind, having been exposed to similar ads on other sites they frequent. But if you want to monetize a very niche-oriented blog

2. YPN
Yahoo! Publisher Network is  the main alternative CPC network to Google AdSense. People who have used YPN have said that they earn more per click when compared to AdSense revenue generated from the same site. While this sounds encouraging, there have been serious issues with YPN in terms of targeting accuracy. Payment is also reliable, offering the choice of payment via check or direct deposit.

3. Chitika
Chitika will contextually pick a product and display a price, image and short description. Payout is reliable and can be sent straight to your PayPal account, something which is sure to attract many. While there have been varying tales of success and woeful performance, Chitika is most suited to commercial blogs. If you blog on a topic such as iPods, PSP, gaming, electrical accessories you will more than likely find Chitika generates a good revenue stream. But the one single benefit offered by Chitika is that it is AdSense-compatible. When you generate your code in the Chitika admin panel, simply turn off the contextual mode and enter a string of keywords such as ‘ipod’ or ’sony vaio’. Chitika will then serve ads based on your keywords. There are numerous plugins available that will automatically insert a keyword string based on your title tag, making this a very worthwhile program to sign up to.

CPA Ad Networks

How to make extra money from your web host

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

When starting a internet home based business you need to carefully select the correct web hosting company. Typically web hosting can cost you anything from £5.00 to $25.00 a month. Sometimes choosing the more expensive option is not a good idea especially when you are first starting out and you do not need all the bells and whistles. A better option is a hosting company that is flexible enough to let you start with a minimum grade at a cheap option, then as you need more requirements you will have the option to upgrade to a more premium service.

Another option is to consider using a host company that offers a reseller program.

What is a Reseller program?
In reseller hosting a reseller buys a Web hosting package from a hosting company and tries to sell it autonomously. The profit for the reseller is the discount or the commission he/she gets from selling an account.
If one refers potential customers to the hosting company, he/she can earn some money through the commissions from a hosting company. The other way is when the customer signs up with the company he/she can earn a small recurring commission until the customer uses the services.

Advantage of a Reseller program
One does not require any kind of technical knowledge for reseller hosting. For reseller hosting one only requires to have account management and Internet skills. It will be versatile if one has some sales and marketing experience, as then he/she can properly interact with his/her customers better.
Generally all the hosting companies provide and maintain all the hardware and software.
Whether you choose a web host with a reseller program or note , there are certain criteria that you must look at when comparing various web hosting companies

Set up fees
Space ( Disk space)
Traffic (data transfer)
Pop email accounts
Email alias (email forwarding)
Control panel
Sub domains
Perl
PHP4
SQL

I have written a brief explanation what each term means below.

Setup Fee: Initial fee charged by a host to create your hosting account.

Disk Space (Storage Space): The storage capacity for images, HTML files, audio files, video files, graphics, etc. A Web site planning to have a large amount of pages and/or planning to use a lot of images (or other large files) will need a greater amount of disk space.

Bandwidth (Data Transfer): The amount of data that you are allowed to transfer (usually monthly). Data = images, text, audio files, video files and everything else that a server transfers to a user’s web browser.  Web sites that get a lot of visitors (and page views) need larger amounts of data transfer (or bandwidth).

POP3 Email Account: POP3 email allows all emails addressed to your domain to go to one place. If a host allows multiple POP3 email boxes, you can have multiple (separate) email addresses.

Email Forwarding: When email sent to different email addresses is automatically sent (forwarded) to another specified email address. For example, you could have multiple email addresses (i.e. info@domain.com, support@domain.com, webmaster@domain.com) that would all be forwarded to one address (i.e. whatever@domain.com) for easy checking and responding.

Control Panel: An online interface often used to facilitate Web site management and editing. Control panels often allow hosting customers to perform basic functions (make changes, check data, etc.) without contacting customer service.

Subdomain: A subdomain is a division of a Web site, a section set apart with a different sub-domain name. For example, subdomains of Web site “domain.com” could be “support.domain.com,” “clients.domain.com,” etc.

Perl: A programming language that facilitates data management and processing.

PHP: A scripting language. PHP commands are embedded within the HTML of a Web page and is useful in the arena of dynamically generated pages. PHP scripting can add numerous interactive elements to a Web site.

SQL: Structured Query Language. A database query and programming language used for accessing, updating, and managing data in a relational database system.

Finally,

You can always get cheap web hosting, but normally this is not a good idea, becuase if your web site is down, you will be losing hundreds of customers and you might not be aware of it. So why not get a good hosting company that has all the above criteria and offers you a chance to make a residual income from your hosting company - consider using HOST4PROFIT, just another good idea to make money online.

Host4Profit - Does your website host pay you back?
