If you want to make your visitors stay longer longer on your website , then it is crucial  to make  your  home based business website more interesting.

The longer you can keep visitors at your home based business  website, the faster you can develop a relationship with them. Once your website has captivated their interest, there ’s every chance they may go on to buy your product or service.

Understand what your visitors are looking for.

Understanding what your visitors  are looking for  is crucial to the success of your home based business  website. The best way to accomplish this is with a  good Traffic analysis program like Google analytics, Statcounter etc.  However you need to remember 2 very important points.

  1. People use the Internet to look for information - so you need to provide what they are looking for.
  2. The 10 second rule, even if you have the information, if your website is boring, your visitor will not wait around to look for the information.

So what information are we looking for that will help with point no 1

  •  What search terms do the visitors use the most to find your site?
  •  What might the people searching for these terms want?
  •  Do you have this information that your visitors are looking for displayed on your website.
  •  What path do they follow on your site? Can you guess where they want to go?

Have you ever  gone to a website intending to browse for just a few minutes, but you end up staying for almost an hour. This is no accident — such web sites are usually carefully designed to make lingering easy. That’s because web site owners know that the longer a customer visits their web sites, the more likely they are to purchase a product or at least remember the company.

When it comes to your own  home based business  web site, you want to urge visitors  to stay longer and return frequently

By implementing the following few tips, you will notice a huge decrease in  the bounce rate on your website ( when visitors click out immediately).

  •  Provide good content - The most compelling reason for visitors to spend more time at your website is the magnetism of its content. Therefore, present them with captivating content that they can’t find elsewhere and they’ll have a reason to stay on your site a little longer.
  •  People will stay longer at your web site if you update your information on a regular basis, viewing the same old content can be a turn off for repeat visitors,  therefore  try and offer something new when they do, e.g. new, product information, graphics, offers, company news, links, etc.
  •  Offer your web site visitors a freebie for visiting your website, or get them to  take the time to fill out your online survey. They’ll be at the site longer and might buy something afterwards.
  •  Make sure all your web pages load fast or your visitors will leave fast. Time is precious; they won’t waste it waiting for your site to load.  Publish your web site professionally. People will get turned off and leave if they see a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes.  Ensure that  your site text easy to read. Most people won’t strain their eyes trying to read text that is too small, light or bright.

The list  above is only a very small amount of  tips that you can use to make your  website more interesting,  one of the best ideas to always to bench mark your website against other websites that are using the same keywords as your home based website, or at least are in the same category as your website.
