Affiliate marketing is absolutely the best way to get your home based online business off to a fast start and this is primarily because you can either  get paid a commission for selling goods as an affiliate or you can open up an account as a Publisher  and promote your own product. Now you are leveraging the work of others and  they will spend to promoting your business for you.

What is affiliate marketing.
In affiliate marketing, people that have nothing to do with your  home based online business or your product, will sell your product on your behalf in exchange for getting a cut of the profits.  But remember sell only products that are related to your niche. If your home based online business website is about exotic fish, most of your site visitors are probably interested in fish. Products having to do with breeding fish, fishtanks, making money with exotic fish, and buying exotic fish at a discount are all products that would do well. Most of your visitors would not be interested in music CD’s, computer games or dog supplies.

 You must always be one-step ahead of your rivals to ensure that you capture a significant share of your target market. Therefore, you must use every possible means to encourage people not only to visit your home based online business  site but also to click and proceed to the websites of the products and services you are promoting. Building an opt-in email list is one of the best ways to gather prospects. Offer a newsletter or an e-zine. Better yet, offer incentives to your prospects to encourage them to subscribe to your newsletters. You can present free softwares, access to exclusive services and other freebies that will be helpful to your prospects.

Social networking
 In Social networking  each site has it’s own individual regulations. In some sites, an affiliate might be allowed to link directly to an affiliate marketing product or program for instance, while in other sites, you may be restricted to some links which lead to your own blogs or  home based online business websites only.
 
By joining social networks that allow users to link to an affiliate marketing sales page, or to your own Web site or blog, you can considerably increase the amount of profits you’re making as an affiliate. This will do well as long as you play by the specific regulations of the networking sites you’re using, and constantly do your promotions well.

Article Marketing
One of the best ways to  get long term traffic for your home based online business website is by  submitting articles, with your website’s link at the resource box, to e-zines and free article sites. You will not only gain exposure, you will also have the opportunity to advertise for free, just include a link back to your site. The more sites you submit your articles to, the better your link popularity is. Make your articles original, relevant and useful so that more websites will pick it up and post it.

Finally
Market your home based online by  using a number of different marketing techniques. Write articles, place free ads, place paid ads, use solo, ezine and classified ads, email, ppc,etc, and as many other different marketing techniques as you can think of. By using a diversified approach, you can determine which sources work best for you. Then focus on those methods that perform the best.
