There are all the obvious methods first that you should try in promoting your lens.

  • Viral Marketing
  • Article Marketing
  • Forum Advertising
  • Email marketing

There are additional things that you can do on squidoo itself to raise the lens rank, increase the number of people that see your lens and get your keywords high up in the search engines

Keep your content Fresh.

Keep making Changes on your lens, everyday for the first 2 weeks then change it to every other day. Do not delete a module completely as this seems to affect rather than enhance your page rank, just make a few changes on an existing module.

To make a change to your module, just go to your squidoo dashboard and select which lens module you want to edit.

If you do not have anything new to add, a good trick is just to delete a word or two, save the module, then go back to edit the module again and type the word back in. Then just Publish your lens.

Join Relevant Squidoo groups .

We all know how important backlinks are both within a site and externally.

Do a search in Squidoo’s groups and join every group which is relevant to your subject, you will have a lot more incoming links from Squidoo.

Check out the most active groups as well to see if there are some easy to find popular and relevant groups that you could join.

Add a comment.

Go find lenses again that are relevant to your topic that have a guest book as 1 of the modules, so you can leave a comment and a back link to your lens. To leave a comment you must be logged into Squidoo, then select how many stars you want to give that lens, leave your comment and a back link, simple.

You can rate the lens and leave a nice comment in the guestbook telling the lens master that you have rated their site. This may result in them visiting your lens and rating your lens too.

Another method to try is to send the lensmaster an email and suggest that you do a  rating exchange or put each others lenses on the lens roll or favourite list. To find the  lensmasters email address, there is usually a “contact me” link under the profile.

Adding more tags.

Adding additional tags to your lens will also help you with search engine rankings.
Really put some thought into what search terms a visitor would enter to find the content on your lens. Go back to the keyword research that you did at the beginning of the lens creation process and see if there is any other words that you ccan add to your  own tags.

Another good idea is to have a look at related lenses again and see what keyword tages they are using for their own lenses.

Participate in Squidoo’s forum.

If you are a fan of forum marketing, then it makes sense to become a active poster on the squidoo forum and drum up some traffic by including your squidoo lens in your signature.

This forum is also a great place to learn new squidoo tricks and tactics
